TiE Dallas – Our Need to Listen

Hello Everyone,

Just as we were preparing for a new normal as it were, the ground seems to have shifted beneath us. The events of last week have brought to the surface our need to re-examine our institutions, attitudes and responses. However complicated, emotional and history-laden some of the issues might be, certain things are very straightforward, and do not require debate. While some of us may have suffered pain and anguish of some kind at some point or the other in our lives, the brutality, violence and destruction that we saw happen to our fellow human beings are not what we have come to believe as exemplary of a just, civil society and the greatest democracy in the world. The fact that the majority of the protesters are young men and women says something – that they are not being heard enough. While we may not have readymade solutions, we need to listen and work with them on reforms. This is a time for introspection, listening and dialogue within communities, within cities and the country.. This is also a time for us to instill in the youth a sense of trust, faith and hope – in our institutions,  in our systems and the belief in basic goodness of humanity, in decency and values in our leadership and in statesmanship. Without such hope, what else is there ? It is an interesting coincidence that we had organized a webinar this week to listen to the younger generation on a variety of topics. While we may not directly address the current events, it will inevitably be part of the discussion. Sunny, Vinod and rest of the Board here at TiE Dallas join me in inviting you to this series of necessary, important and exciting conversations to be had.  Let the dialogue begin ! Register here for this  coming week’s TiE Dallas Youth Panel Discussion. For more details, click HERE Thank you Ram Ram Viswanathan, President, TiE Dallas ram@nathanresearch.com
